Currently Senior Backend Developer / Co-Owner at Open Dev Solutions Inc.
About

Hi, I'm Jordan.

Creating custom applications, websites and tools primarily with .NET while baking on the side.

I'm a backend developer based in Waterloo, and I've been building software professionally since 2013. I started at Hitachi Solutions as a SharePoint consultant, building custom solutions for clients like Suncor, Sleeman and Mawer, then spent three years at Sandbox Software Solutions building and supporting custom applications for government, medical and retail clients.

In 2019 I co-founded Open Dev Solutions, where I lead backend development on Portico CMS, an intranet platform we built from the ground up with dynamic metadata, site building and document editing. A highlight so far has been moving our first major client, more than 1,000 users, off SharePoint and onto Portico. Day to day I work in C# and ASP.NET Core, with React and TypeScript on the front end and MySQL, OpenSearch and AWS underneath.

Outside of work I build small apps that make everyday things a little easier. Today's Lift, an offline workout planner with no account and no ads, is on Google Play, and Today's Split, a shared-expense app with no central server, is on the way. I've been tinkering with Android since my first app, Audio Mashup, back in 2012.

When I step away from the keyboard you'll find me in the kitchen cooking for friends and family, at the gym, or on the golf course sending a few balls into the trees.
