Privacy policy
Bytes Of Jord is my personal website. I collect as little as I can, I don't sell or share anything for advertising, and there is no analytics or ad tracking.

Browsing the site
You can read the resume, apps and recipes without an account. I don't use analytics, tracking pixels or advertising cookies. Like any web server, the server briefly logs requests, including your IP address, to keep the site running and secure.
Pages load fonts from Google Fonts and Adobe Fonts. Your browser fetches them directly, so those services see your IP address and browser details under their own privacy policies.
Contact form
When you send a message I store your name, email address and message so I can read and reply to it. A copy is emailed directly to me. I keep messages until I delete them.
Accounts
Accounts are invite only, for friends and family who use the private tools and recipes. For an account I store your email address, display name, a salted hash of your password (never the password itself), your two-factor settings if you turn them on, when you last signed in, which tools you have access to and how often you use them, and a log of account and security events such as sign-ins, failed sign-in attempts and changes you make. If something goes wrong on a page, the error log records the page and your display name so I can fix it.
Signing in with Google
If you choose to sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address and Google account ID with this site. I use them only to match you to the account you were invited to and to sign you in. I don't request access to your Gmail, contacts, Drive or anything else, and I don't use Google data for advertising or share it with anyone.
Bytes Of Jord's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. You can remove the connection at any time from your Google account settings.
Cookies and local storage
The site only sets cookies it needs to work: a sign-in cookie when you sign in, a security cookie that protects forms from forgery, and, if you tick "Don't ask again on this device", a cookie that remembers your two-factor check. Your light or dark theme choice and some portal layout preferences are saved in your browser's local storage and never sent to me.
Who else handles data
The site, its database, uploaded media and backups are hosted on Amazon Web Services in the United States, which also sends the site's emails. Google handles Google sign-in, and Google Fonts and Adobe Fonts serve fonts as described above. Nobody else receives your information, and I never sell it.
How long I keep it
Account information stays while your account exists. If you ask me to delete your account, I delete its data from the live site, and copies in backups age out as older backups are replaced.
Your choices
You can ask me what I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete your account or messages. Send a request through the contact page and I'll take care of it.
Changes
If this policy changes, I'll update this page and the date at the top.
